No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Kolkata Police has stepped up its investigation following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s complaint over the alleged theft of documents linked to Trinamool Congress election-related work. Police have begun identifying Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials named as “accused” in connection with the alleged removal of papers from the residence of I-PAC leader Pratik Jain and the I-PAC office.
Investigators are also attempting to identify central force personnel and officers who were present at both locations during the incident. On Saturday morning, officers from Shakespeare Sarani police station visited Pratik Jain’s residence, where they collected footage from all CCTV cameras and the DVR installed at the house.
According to reports, statements of the domestic help and security personnel at Pratik Jain’s residence have already been recorded. Police sources said that once the identification process is completed, notices will be issued to the accused. The investigation is being jointly conducted by Shakespeare Sarani and Bidhannagar Electronic Complex police stations.
